Mini SEJ-Z load cell with stop
Low range load cell with mechanical stop
Capacity from 1 to 5N
The Mini SEJ-Z low-force sensor is a miniature aluminum alloy load cell designed to measure extremely low forces (1 to 5 N) in both tension and compression. This is the ideal instrument for applications where the forces to be measured are too small to be accurately detected by standard sensors.
Its key technical feature is its built-in mechanical stop: in the event of accidental overload (up to 100 N for the 1N and 2N models, and up to 500 N for the 5N model), the stop absorbs the force without damaging the sensing element. This protection is critical in test environments where mishandling may occur, and prevents premature replacement of the sensor.
Its very compact dimensions (48 × 40 × 48 mm for the 1N and 2N models) allow it to be integrated into test setups with limited space. The combined linearity and hysteresis are guaranteed to be within 0.1% of full scale, with calibration performed in accordance with ISO 17025 methods. It connects directly to ACRN measurement consoles (XA, XA-m)
Description
Applications of the Mini SEJ-Z Low-Load Sensor
The Mini SEJ-Z sensor is used in all industries where forces of less than 5 N need to be measured accurately:
Luxury cosmetics and fragrances
Measurement of the actuation force of miniature pumps, the trigger forces of fine-mist spray mechanisms, and the opening forces required for delicate closures on high-end bottles. The typical forces exerted by these mechanisms are in the range of 1 to 5 N.
Medical and Medical Devices
Measurement of the activation force of auto-injectors, pen injectors, and implantable devices, where the force required for activation is a regulated safety parameter.
Electronics and miniature components
Testing the actuation force of microswitches, touch keypads, and connectors; measuring the engagement force of miniature connectors on printed circuit boards.
Textiles and flexible materials
Measuring the tensile force required to break a thread, testing the strength of a seam, or verifying the adhesion of an adhesive on lightweight materials; validating precision mechanisms; and conducting repeatability studies on miniature actuators.
Why a mechanical stop is essential for low-load sensors
Force sensors designed for very low loads are inherently fragile: their sensing element is calibrated to measure forces of just a few newtons, which makes it vulnerable to impacts and accidental overloads. An operator who places a part on the sensor carelessly, or who accidentally exceeds the measurement range, can permanently damage a standard sensor.
The Mini SEJ-Z’s mechanical stop resolves this issue by mechanically limiting the deflection of the sensing element as soon as the overload exceeds the protection threshold—without any operator intervention, without electronics, and with no response time. This is a passive protection system that works even in the event of a sudden, instantaneous overload.
This feature significantly extends the sensor’s service life in a production environment and reduces maintenance costs associated with replacing damaged load cells.
