Force sensors : Applications
Force measurement is a requirement common to many industrial and scientific sectors. Whether you need to verify the strength of a part, check the clamping force of an assembly, or characterize the mechanical properties of a material, our ACRN measurement systems can be used in a wide variety of applications. Their high precision, ruggedness, and compatibility with ACRN sensors make them the go-to instruments for your test benches and quality control systems.
Sector 01
Automotive industry
In the automotive industry, force control is essential at every stage of the assembly process. Force sensors are used to verify the insertion force of parts, measure the clamping force of fasteners, test the strength of plastics and metals, and check the snap-fit force of connectors. Our consoles integrate seamlessly into your automotive test benches thanks to their high data acquisition rate and rugged design, making them ideal for industrial environments.
In the aerospace and defense sector, metrological traceability is a non-negotiable requirement. Each measurement must be verifiable, reproducible, and traceable to national standards. Our measurement systems, when used with COFRAC-accredited sensors, enable the qualification of critical assemblies, the validation of forming processes, and the performance of mechanical strength tests in accordance with EN 9100 and NADCAP standards. The VFTI console, with its 5 MHz sampling rate, captures the shock and impact transients essential for failure analysis.
Sector 02
Aerospace & Defense
Sector 03
R&D & Laboratory
In laboratories and R&D settings, the measurement console serves as the heart of the test bench< 1 >: it centralizes sensor signals, time-stamps each data acquisition, and enables detailed analysis of mechanical phenomena. Characterization of composite materials, fatigue testing, measurements of interface stiffness or peel strength : With its internal frequency of 5,000,000 Hz, the VFTI is capable of handling the most dynamic measurements. For static or semi-static tests, the AFTI console offers an excellent balance of accuracy and ergonomics , thanks to its dual power supply and battery options.
In the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, force measurement is used to monitor processes where patient safety is at stake : insertion force for catheters or implants, mechanical strength of medical device components, and verification of the closure of sterile packaging or droppers. Our consoles are designed for use in controlled environments (cleanrooms) and ensure full traceability of results, in compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 requirements. COFRAC accredited traceable calibration ensures the metrological validity of each measurement.

FAQ — Everything You Need to Know About ACRN Measurement Consoles
01
What types of signals can an ACRN measurement console acquire ?
ACRN measurement consoles are designed to process a wide variety of signals from industrial sensors : force, torque, pressure, and displacement signals, as well as any other physical quantity converted into an electrical signal. Thanks to its Vector OS platform, the VFTI console automatically recognizes the type of connected sensor without any operator intervention. The XA-m console uses MICA® connectors to achieve the same result. La console AFTI couvre les signaux de force et de couple avec des sorties RS232, analogique et digimatic.
02
What is the maximum sampling rate ?
La fréquence d’échantillonnage dépend du modèle. The VFTI console achieves an internal sampling rate of 5,000,000 Hz and a graphical acquisition rate of 2,000 Hz, making it ideal for the most demanding applications (measurement of transient phenomena, impacts, and pulses). The AFTI console offers a 5,000 Hz frequency range, suitable for quasi-static measurements in production and laboratory settings. The XA-m console operates at 1,000 Hz and features four selectable filters to smooth out noisy signals. To find the right model for your application, please refer to the technical data sheets or contact our team.
03
Are the consoles compatible with all sensors ?
Our controllers are compatible with a wide range of sensors available on the market, including strain gauge sensors, piezoelectric sensors, and sensors with current or voltage outputs. The VFTI and XA-m use automatic recognition systems (Vector OS and MICA®) that adjust the unit of measurement and scale as soon as the sensor is connected. Compatibility is guaranteed for ACRN sensors. For third-party sensors, please contact us : we will verify technical compatibility before shipping or provide you with an adapter.
04
How do I record and export measurement data ?
Each template offers export options tailored to your needs :
✓ VFTI : recording to a micro-SD card (up to 32 GB) and RS232 output for direct transfer to a PC or data acquisition system.
✓ AFTI : RS232, Digimatic, and analog outputs. Option Data Xport pour l’export automatique vers Excel ou base de données.
✓ XA-m : RS232 output for integration into industrial monitoring systems.
We also offer custom software development to automate the collection and visualization of your data.
05
Is it possible to integrate a console into an automated test bench< 1 >?
Yes. ACRN consoles are designed to integrate into automated environments. The VFTI can operate in ” component ” mode, controlled by external software via RS232. The XA-m console stands out for its compact design, which is particularly well-suited for machine-mounted workstations. Upon request, ACRN handles the entire integration process (cabling, software interface, commissioning) and delivers a turnkey system that is ready for use.
06
What is COFRAC-accredited calibration, and is it available for consoles< ?
COFRAC-accredited traceable calibration ensures that your instruments are metrologically traceable to national standards. It is required in many regulated sectors< 1 >: pharmaceutical, aerospace, automotive, and medical. ACRN propose l’étalonnage raccordé COFRAC pour l’ensemble de sa gamme de consoles et de capteurs associés. The certificate provides an error curve, the expanded measurement uncertainty, and the reference conditions. Periodic recalibration is recommended based on the frequency of use and the quality requirements of your industry.
07
Which console should I choose for portable use on-site ?
For mobile measurements or on-site maintenance work, the AFTI console is the best choice : it runs on rechargeable AAA batteries and is completely independent of the mains power supply. Its lightweight yet sturdy aluminum housing is designed to withstand industrial environments. The XA-m console is also very compact and can be easily integrated into a mobile workstation or onboard equipment. The VFTI, designed for fixed test benches, is still portable but requires a mains power supply.
