The FJ miniature compression cell is a strain gauge force sensor designed to measure compressive forces when integrated into test benches, presses, or automated control systems.
Its ultra-flat design and compact size—the smallest model measures just 25 mm in diameter and 16 mm in height—allow it to fit into spaces where standard load cells cannot be installed.
Made of stainless steel with a chemical nickel plating finish, the FJ is designed to withstand demanding industrial environments: temperatures ranging from -54 to +121°C, humidity, and splashes. Its spherical load-bearing button ensures optimal localized support, reducing the effects of misalignment. With a permissible overload of 150% and a breaking load of 300%, it offers above-average mechanical strength for this type of sensor.
The FJ series covers 13 load capacities ranging from 100 N to 200 kN (approximately 10 kg to 20 tons), with linearity and hysteresis of 0.25% FS and repeatability of 0.10% FS. It comes with an ACRN calibration certificate and a 1.5-meter cable with color-coded connectors

Applications of the FJ Miniature Compression Cell
The FJ miniature load cell is used in applications requiring precise force measurement in a confined space:
Test benches and testing machines
Integration into press frames, motorized clamping systems, or tensile/compression testing machines for continuous measurement of the applied force. The low profile of the FJ cell allows for integration without significantly altering the bench’s kinematics.
Industrial Process Control
Measurement of compression force in assembly presses, stamping systems, or crimping stations to verify that the applied force is within the specified tolerance range.
R&D Laboratory
Mechanical characterization of materials, compression testing of components, and validation of processes requiring force measurements traceable to ISO 17025
Industrial weighing and dosing
Integration into static weighing or in-line dosing systems, thanks to the very wide range of capacities covered (100 N to 200 kN)
Harsh environments
Thanks to its stainless steel construction and wide operating temperature range (-54 to +121°C), the Fj can be used in environments with extreme temperatures, cleanrooms, or areas requiring frequent cleaning.
FJ vs. SEJ: Which model should you choose?
ACRN offers two families of force sensors for integration-based measurement applications:
The FJ cell is a compression-only cell, featuring a flat cylindrical shape with a spherical button. Its wide capacity range and compact design make it the ideal choice for installations in confined spaces and pure compression applications.
The SEJ sensor is an S-shaped cell that operates under both tension and compression, with a nonlinearity and hysteresis of 0.02% of full scale (which is significantly higher accuracy than that of the FJ). It is recommended for high-precision applications, metrology test benches, and calibration laboratories.
If your application requires compression (only) in a limited space: The FJ cell is the right choice for you.
If you need both tensile and compressive testing with the highest possible precision: Choose the SEJ sensor
