CTS-I Leak test box
The elementary model
The CTS-I is a fully pneumatic immersion leak test chamber designed to detect leaks in industrial packaging.
As the entry-level model in the ACRN series, it offers a simple, reliable, and cost-effective solution for leak testing during production, upon receipt of raw materials, or prior to shipment.
It works on the same principle as the CTE-I: the package is submerged in water and held in place by a perforated Plexiglas clamp.
A vacuum is then applied—ranging from -0.1 to -0.85 bar with the standard compressed air supply, or up to -920 mbar with an optional vacuum pump for packages requiring a higher vacuum.
Any leak is indicated by the appearance of bubbles, allowing for precise and immediate identification of the defect.
Its fully pneumatic design, which requires no electrical connections, means it requires virtually no maintenance and is intuitive to use without any special training.
The hinged transparent PMMA enclosure provides a clear view of the product being tested.
It comes with an LNE/COFRAC-accredited calibration certificate and complies with ASTM D4991, D5094, D4169, EN 14401, and DIN 55528 standards.
Description
Applications of the CTS-I
The CTS-I box is suitable for a wide range of industrial packaging applications across many industries:
Agri-food
Leak testing of vials, bottles, test tubes, yogurt containers, food trays, and heat-sealed pouches. An undetected leak can lead to product contamination, a shorter shelf life, and a health hazard.
Cosmetics and Fragrances
Integrity testing of vials, blister packs, and packaging for personal care products. Immersion testing helps detect micro-leaks that are invisible to the naked eye before a product is released to the market.
Pharmaceutical
Verification of the integrity of primary packaging (bottles, vials, blister packs, sachets). Test traceability is ensured by the LNE/COFRAC calibration certificate provided with the CTS-I, which complies with GMP requirements.
Manufacturing and Mechanical Assembly
Leak testing of enclosures, connectors, gaskets, and mechanical subassemblies that require leak testing prior to final assembly or shipment.
Receiving and Shipping
The CTS-I is suitable for both incoming inspections (raw material receipt) and outgoing inspections (pre-shipment checks), thanks to its ease of use and maintenance-free design.
CTS-I vs. CTE-I: Which subwoofer should you choose?
Both chambers are based on the same immersion testing principle, but differ in several respects:
The CTS-I is the basic model: economical, simple, and without advanced timing features. It can be powered by compressed air or a vacuum pump (up to -920 mbar), allowing it to achieve higher vacuum levels than the CTE-I. It complies with ASTM D4991, D5094, D4169, EN 14401, and DIN 55528 standards—suitable for rigid and semi-rigid packaging.
The CTE-I is a customizable and scalable model: it comes standard with safety cylinders for large compartments, an adjustable delay of up to 999 seconds, and numerous customization options. It complies with ASTM D3078—a standard specific to heat-sealed flexible packaging (blister packs, pouches, and doypacks).
In summary: CTS-I for rigid packaging and tight budgets, CTE-I for flexible packaging and scalability requirements.
