MDD manual traction bench
The manual traction / compression stand
The MDD (Manual Direct Drive) manual testing machine is a manually operated tensile and compression testing machine, designed to apply controlled forces of up to 1,000 N (100 kgf) to any type of specimen or component. It is the ideal solution for quality control laboratories and workshops that need a reliable, portable testing station without having to rely on a motorized test bench.
The operating principle is based on a precision ball screw driven by an ergonomic crank. Each turn of the crank moves the crossbar 2 mm, allowing for precise and repeatable positioning of the applied force. A self-locking screw mechanism maintains pressure on the sample during the measurement, eliminating the need for the operator to hold the position manually.
The MDD is compatible with all Mecmesin force gauges (BFG, AFG) and can be supplemented with an optical digital scale (resolution 0.01 mm) to simultaneously measure displacement and force—transforming the bench into a true basic force/displacement tester.
Description
Applications
The MDD test bench is used in many industries for quality control and mechanical characterization applications:
Spring testing
The primary application of the MDD is to measure the force required for a specific compression or extension. The optional digital ruler allows you to obtain a complete force-displacement curve.
Packaging and Packaging Materials
Tear strength testing of closures, caps, and seams; opening force of flexible packaging; compression strength of trays or cartons.
Components and assemblies
Measurement of the extraction force of interlocking components, resistance to the pulling out of fasteners, clipping or unclipping force, and mechanical strength of ultrasonic welds.
Textiles and flexible materials
Tensile strength testing of threads, straps, seams, and membranes, using appropriate gripping accessories.
Horizontal use
With the optional stand kit, the MDD can be used in a horizontal position, making it easier to perform certain ergonomic tests or tests on parts that are difficult to hold in a vertical position.
Why choose a manual bench?
A manual test bench like the MDD is the right choice when the test throughput is moderate, the budget is limited, or portability is a key consideration. Unlike motorized testing machines, which operate at a fixed speed, the MDD allows the operator to control the rate at which force is applied—which can be an advantage for certain tests that require a gradual approach or a reading once the force has stabilized.
For applications requiring controlled and repeatable travel speeds, automated force-displacement curves, or high test rates, ACRN also offers Mecmesin (MultiTest) motorized test stands, available upon request.
