Frequently asked questions about electronic dynamometers

What is an electronic dynamometer?

An electronic dynamometer is a measuring instrument for assessing force, load or torque. It is used in many sectors, including industry, research and healthcare. The most common units of measurement are the Newton (N), the kilogram-force (kgf) and the pound-force (lbf).

What's the difference between an electronic and a mechanical dynamometer?

The electronic dynamometer offers enhanced accuracy, digital display and data storage options, unlike the mechanical model which operates with a spring and analog dial.

What are the advantages of an electronic dynamometer?

It offers instant, accurate reading, measurement logging and improved reliability for industrial and laboratory testing.

Which electronic dynamometer to choose between AFG, BFG and VFG?

  • AFG: High precision and versatility.
  • BFG: Simplicity and robustness for standard tests.
  • VFG: Top-of-the-range model with touch screen and advanced options.

How to calibrate an electronic dynamometer

Calibration is performed using calibrated weights or a certified calibration bench. We recommend that you follow the manufacturer’s instructions and recalibrate the device regularly.

How long does an electronic dynamometer last?

With proper care and use, an electronic dynamometer can last for many years. Regular calibration is necessary to ensure accuracy.

Where is a dynamometer used?

Force gauges can be found in many sectors. In industry, they are used to test the strength of materials and ensure quality control. In research and development, they are used to carry out mechanical tests and study material properties. In the medical field, they are used to assess muscle strength in patients undergoing rehabilitation.

Are electronic force gauges compatible with accessories?

Yes, depending on the model, they can be fitted with external sensors, specific supports or software for data analysis.
