A new standard for leak testing in the packaging industry: AgileakFlow

9 Dec 2025

In many industries such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and chemicals, checking the tightness of packaging is an essential step in ensuring the quality of the final product. ACRN, the French test equipment specialist, is expanding its range with an upgrade to the popular Agileak.

This new model incorporates an automatic water suction system, allowing continuous supply to the tank from an external container.

The result: a more user-friendly, cleaner, and faster test.

What distinguishes this model from the classic Agileak?

The AgileakFlow is a waterproof testing chamber designed for immersion testing, designed to detect micro-leaks in rigid or semi-rigid packaging (bottles, tubes, jars, caps, etc.).

It works on a simple principle:

  1. The operator places the package in the box.
  2. The air is pressurized inside the chamber.
  3. The solenoid valve opens.
  4. Thanks to the pressure difference, water is sucked into the box.
  5. In the event of a leak, bubbles will appear, indicating a seal failure.
  6. At the end of the test, the water returns to the container by gravity.

The unique feature of this model is the addition of a solenoid valve that automatically draws water from the container to supply the tank, without manual intervention.

Why a “Flow” version? The limitations of traditional caissons

On a conventional Agileak, the operator must manually fill the tank using a jug or a supply hose.
However, in an industrial context:

  • It takes time,
  • This increases the risk of splashing,
  • Repeated handling causes fatigue,
  • The water level must be adjusted regularly.

The AgileakFlow eliminates all these irritants thanks to its integrated suction system.

Key improvements to AgileakFlow

1. Automatic water suction: clean and fast filling

The pump draws water directly from an external container and continuously fills the chamber.
. Significant time savings for the operator
. Less risk of error or overflow
. More stable process for repetitive testing

2. Ergonomic design tailored for production

The box remains compact, robust, and easy to use, true to the Agileak range.
Actions are kept to a minimum: the operator focuses solely on detecting defects.

3. A versatile solution for all types of packaging

Thanks to its adaptable design, AgileakFlow can be used to check the leak tightness of a wide range of packaging.

Whether it’s flexible or multilayer tubes, PET, HDPE, or PVC bottles, glass or plastic bottles, or even cosmetic jars, the device easily adapts to the different formats encountered in production.

It is also suitable for testing caps, closures, and, depending on the configuration selected, certain flexible pouches.

This versatility makes it a comprehensive tool for quality departments wishing to centralize their testing within a single piece of equipment.

4. Compliant with quality control requirements

The immersion test is one of the simplest, quickest, and most visual methods for identifying a leak.

Its reliability makes it a widely adopted technique in the industry: it is used in acceptance testing, process validation, quality audits, R&D testing, and even checks carried out during production.

This versatility ensures full compliance with quality service requirements.

How does a leak test with AgileakFlow work?

The test begins with the automatic filling of the chamber using the integrated suction system. Once the water is in place, the operator submerges the product to be tested and then pressurizes the chamber. If the packaging has a leak, air will escape in the form of bubbles visible in the water. The operator can then quickly confirm whether or not the tested packaging complies with standards.

This test detects micro-leaks that are impossible to see with the naked eye on dry packaging.

In which industries should AgileakFlow be used?

AgileakFlow naturally finds its place in many sectors, but it is in the pharmaceutical industry that it reveals its full potential.

The chamber is particularly valued for leak testing of syrups, liquid solutions, eye drops, or tubular devices, where test reliability is essential. It is also ideal for methylene blue testing, a visual method widely used in pharmacies to detect micro-leaks and validate the compliance of primary packaging.

Although primarily designed to meet the strict requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, AgileakFlow is also widely used in cosmetics—for creams, lotions, tubes, and jars—as well as in the food industry for sauces, oils, and flavorings, and in the chemical and detergent industries to inspect packaging containing solvents or household products.

This versatility allows it to easily adapt to most formats encountered on production lines, while offering testing accuracy that meets the most demanding standards of pharmaceutical quality control.

The benefits for your quality control

✔ Time savings and increased productivity

The automated filling of the chamber limits handling and allows tests to be carried out quickly one after the other, which is particularly useful during methylene blue test series, which are often carried out in large quantities.

✔ Improved repeatability

Thanks to the constant maintenance of the water level and the stability of the process, methylene blue tests are becoming more reliable: the operator obtains more readable results, without variations related to manual filling.

✔ Improved operator ergonomics

Since methylene blue can stain and require extra precautions, AgileakFlow greatly reduces the need to handle liquids. Less handling, less risk of splashing, and a significantly cleaner and safer working environment.

✔ Solution plug-and-play

The simple and robust system allows the operator to focus solely on observing the test—in particular, whether or not an indicative color change occurs—without having to manage complex settings or repetitive manipulations.

Conclusion: An essential development for modern leak testing

With AgileakFlow, ACRN offers a solution that directly meets the needs of manufacturers: simplicity, ergonomics, speed, and test quality.

This leak testing chamber is the ideal tool for any company looking to improve the reliability of its quality control, reduce losses, and enhance customer satisfaction.
